House News

House of Herodotus: Color Walk-A-Thon Thank you

The House of Herodotus thanks everyone who participated in this years Color Walk-a-Thon! It was warm and windy, but a great time was had by all!! We more than tripled our participation this year by having 60 participants!!

We are going to move the Walk-a-Thon to Friday November 2, this next school year. Helping Hand Home for Children is celebrating their 125th year helping abused and neglected children get ready to be adopted. Representatives from Helping Hand Home for Children will give us a short presentation before the Walk-a-Thon in November so students and parents can see why and how our fundraising is helping children in need.

The money will be brought to Helping Hand next Wednesday morning at 11:00. Helping Hand is offering a tour for anyone 18 years old or older. They cannot allow younger children to come at that time for the sake of the children at the home. If you would like to come to the tour, please contact Dr. McIntyre so families can all carpool from FCA.

Thank you to everyone who has donated. The registration kits for the Color Walk-a-Thon generated $2 each for Helping Hand, which totaled $106. Thank you to those who walked for pledges and who gave donations which raised $1030. The House of Herodotus also donated $100. Our goal was to raise $950, but we surpassed our goal raising $1230!

Thank you to the students and parents who walked, to the parents for your support, to the House of Herodotus students who put on the event, and for the help of the ladies in the office who helped with all the behind the scenes details for making the Walk-a-Thon such a success. It was truly a community effort benefiting the community!

The results of the Walk-a-Thon are a testimony to the great folks we have here at Founders!

Archer Games winners

On the last day of school, with a few minutes until dismissal and soaking wet from field day, the whole student body gathered in the gym for one last All School Assembly.

Congratulations to the House of Herodotus for winning the academic games. Congratulations to Euclid for winning the academic games. And Congratulations to the House of Newton for their victory in the year long competition. Hard earned and very well deserved!
